The Ministry of Health has announced 21 new cases of Coronavirus infections among truck drivers, thereby bringing the number of confirmed cases in Uganda to 248.

The Ministry tweeted on Monday morning thus; “21 new cases confirmed from 1,071 samples from various Points of Entry. All cases are Ugandan nationals from Elegu, Mutukula and Malaba points.

All 253 community samples are negative for COVID-19.

The COVID-19 confirmed cases are now 248.”

However, the development comes at a time when President Yoweri Museveni is set to address the nation about Coronavirus and update the country about the COVID-19 Lockdown.

President Museveni’s televised address, which will be his 14th public communication about COVID-19 ever since it broke out in Uganda in March 2020, will be held on Monday at 8:00Pm and will be broadcast on all radio and TV stations in the country.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has since rubbished as fake news rumours which have been going around on social media indicating that the number of COVID-19 in Uganda had risen to 332 after 105 news cases were registered from among truck drivers.
