It should be noted that  Museveni last delivered a COVID-19 National Address July during which he announced partial lifting of the lockdown, lifted curfew hours from 7:00 to 9:00PM and allowed the resumption of operation of public transport, albeit with Standard Operating Procedures.

However, Museveni’s address comes at a time when Uganda has so far registered 56  COVID-19 deaths, out of 4,978 cumulative cases and 2,317 total recoveries.

The number of deaths rose from 55 on Tuesday after a new COVID-19 death was registered in Kitgum District on Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health, results of COVID-19 tests done on 13 September 2020 confirmed 179 new cases, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases  to 4,978.

In this speech on Saturday, President Museveni is expected to address issues like reopening of churches, the airport, schools, bars, sports arenas, resorts and other facilities that were closed down in March this year when he announced a national lockdown following the COVID-19 outbreak.
