Jacob Kiplimo has broken Moses Kipsiro’s national record (7:30.95) in the 3000m after winning an intriguing Rome Diamond League race Thursday night. The 19-year-old Ugandan beat Jacob Ingesbrigtsen on the home straight to claim the victory. Ingesbrigtsen crossed in 7:27.05, also a Norwegian record while Australian Stewart McSweyn came third in 7:28.02. The former junior world cross country champion’s 7:26.64 is a new national record over that distance and it is also the fastest time since 2007.
